Graphics : Line Types

Line Types

Land F/X has developed various graphic line types to augment those offered by AutoCAD. These lines may offer the End User better LTScale output and more flexibility than the standard AutoCAD line types. Further, they can be used to define borders for Shrub Areas or Ground Covers, as they all create standard polylines.

Scallop Line

The Scallop Line function is perhaps the most useful of the line types for drawing vegetation edge lines. If you click on a series of points in a counterclockwise direction the scallop edge will be “puffy”, but more subtle than a standard cloud line.

If you click on a series of points in a clockwise direction the scallop edge will be “pointy”.

Cloud Line

Cloud Line is a traditional half circle arc for revision cloud definition lines or vegetation lines. The AutoCAD Express Tools Revision Cloud is an excellent method to automatically install a series of arcs as you move the crosshairs around the drawing. The Land F/X Cloud Line differs in that it requires the End User to manually click for each arc location. This allows for more End User control of the graphical environment.

Select the Cloud Line function, click on a series of points, then chose either C for Close, or enter or right click for End.

Random Pointy Line

Random Pointy Line uses an algorithm to create a random, hand-drawn look. This provides a more artistic casual line edge for some vegetation types.

Random Cloud Line

Random Cloud Line allows the drawing of a clouded line, without having to individually select each individual point. It is similar to the AutoCAD Revision Cloud in appearance, yet is generally easier to control.

Poly Arc Line

The Poly Arc function is a convenient way of creating a polyline that consists of a series of arcs. This is especially useful in creating meandering mow strips or header boards, or meandering walks or walls.

Select Poly Arc and the AutoCAD command line will ask “Specify start point:”, click where you want the poly arc to begin. The command line will then ask “Arc second point/ [done]:” and select the second point. The command line will then ask “Specify end point of arc:” and select the end. Continue entering as many arcs as you wish and then select enter or right click to signify done.

Spline

The Spline function facilitates drawing Splines, which can then be used for the boundary edges for Ground Covers or Shrub Areas.
