Area Count is useful in quickly calculating areas within polyline borders of selected layers. This is especially useful in calculating areas for cost estimates or data compilation.
Draw polylines around areas you want to calculate. As this command will calculate areas on a selected layer, naming of the layer for the polylines could be important. For example, Turf for turf areas, Bldg Demo for building to be demolished, etc.
Select Area Count and the command line prompts:
Use the pickbox to select an object on the layer with polyline borders you want you want to calculate.
The command line will prompt:
Pressing enter will indicate All, meaning all entities bounded by a polyline on this layer. Pressing S will indicate the End User wishes to Select entities one at a time, and when finished, press enter for the total.
The total will be displayed in a dialog box that indicates the layer name and the total area in square inches and square feet.
The Length Total function quickly calculates lengths of lines of selected layers. This is especially useful in calculating lineal lengths for cost estimates or data compilation.
Draw lines, or select previously drawn lines, that you want to calculate the length of. As this command will calculate lengths on a selected layer, naming of the layer could be important. For example, Header for turf header lengths, or Wall-Demo for walls to be demolished, etc.
Select Length Total and the command line prompts:
Use the pickbox to select an object on the layer with lines you want you want to calculate.
The command line will prompt:
Pressing enter or right click will indicate All, meaning all entities with lines on the selected layer. Pressing S will indicate the End User wishes to Select entities one at a time, and when finished, press enter for the total.
The total will be displayed in a dialog box that indicates the layer name and the total length in inches and feet.
The Block Count function lists the names of blocks in a drawing, and the lists quantity of each block. This is especially useful if a large number of blocks have been entered, such as those representing irrigation heads, chairs, sinks, existing trees, etc., and the End User wants a listing and totals for the blocks in the drawing.
Select the Block Count function and the command line will prompt:
Select D for drawing, or F for file.
If you selected drawing, the blocks will be listed and totaled in the AutoCAD Text Window.
If you selected file, a file directory dialog box will appear. Locate the folder location and file name you wish for the block count information.
