Do This: With the project you created active, add several plants into each plant category, Trees, Shrubs, Shrub Areas, and Ground Covers. Add with
Add by Name, for individual plants, and then add from
Add from Project and add from the
Tutorial 1 project.

Do This: Open the drawing
1.01 Base Drawing and make sure the scale is set to 1”=20’, and that the current project is either your project or the
Tutorial 1 project. Place at least one type of Tree and Shrub, then draw, on any layer, some polyline bordered areas to place at least one Shrub Area and Ground Cover.

Do This: Open the drawing
2.01 Labeling Plants and use the different types of labels on the plants…label some of the shrub areas at the top of the project…and use the
Highlight Plant function to highlight some plants before labeling them.
Open the drawing 2.02 Verify Labels and use the
Verify Plant Labels function to verify if all of the plants are labeled. Correct any labeling errors and again use the
Verify Plant Labels.

2.02 Verify Labels. After making corrections from the previous section, edit one of the trees or shrubs, change its container size, and click OK with
Apply to all checked so it will apply to all of the plants. Now edit the same or a different plant and change its symbols to a different one, or a different size.
Now edit a plant and click on the Change Plant button near the top of the
Plant Info dialog box. Either select one of the plants in the current project, or click
Add New to add a new plant to the project. This time, ensure that the
Apply to all box is UNCHECKED
, and select some of the plants you picked by clicking on them, or with a window or crossing.

Do This: Open the drawing
2.02 Verify Labels. Run a Plant Schedule to the drawing in Paper Space or Model Space. Run another schedule with different options picked in
Schedule Options, and with different variations of the information in each category Trees through Ground Covers.
Remember: After placing one Plant Schedule in the drawing, when you go to run another one, a dialog box will ask “Re-general the existing schedule?”. Select NO to place several schedules side by side to compare them.

2.10 Shrub Plan, 2.11 Tree-GC Plan. Both of these are External References of the same drawing,
9010CPNM (a planting plan master). On the drawing
2.10 Shrub Plan freeze the trees and ground cover symbols and callouts, leaving the shrubs, shrub areas, and their callouts. On the drawing
2.11 Tree-GC Plan freeze the shrubs and shrub areas, along with their callouts, leaving just the trees and ground covers and their callouts.
