Adding Details to a Project

Detail Manager

Watch the video.

The Detail Manager will automatically open when selecting Details from the Reference Notes or the Detail Callouts. You can also open the function with the Detail Manager icon or pull-down menu.

The Detail Manager controls the details for the project. This function:

Detail Info

Detail Info will bring up a dialog box displaying a larger preview of the selected detail, along with its information, and an ability to open the detail to edit it.

Delete

This will delete and remove a highlighted detail from the project.

Replace Detail

If you need to replace a detail with another, this button will allow you to easily do this, while retaining any references to the detail from any callouts, reference notes, plants, or irrigation equipment. If the detail has also been placed into the drawing, the revised detail will be inserted in its place. When you replace a standard detail, you will be prompted with the details within that category.

Import

Import one or more details from another Project or from a Template.

Adding a Standard Detail

To add a Standard Detail to the project, select the Add Std button from the Detail Manager. The Standard Detail dialog box will appear.

The Standard Detail dialog box lists CSI Divisions on the left, and the corresponding Subdivisions and Categories on the right. Only Divisions with details saved in them will be viewable. The other Divisions do not have any details at this time, and thus are not available.

As an example, add a redwood header board mow strip detail to the project. Selecting 32 Exterior Improvements, 94 Planting Accessories, and 13 Landscape Edging, and click on Select.

Highlight the desired detail and select OK. The detail will appear in the project Detail Manager.

Notice that the added detail is listed to the left under “Details”. That means the detail has been added to the project but not yet placed into the drawing. When it is placed into the drawing it will be listed under “Placed Details”, and will include the Sheet Number and Detail Number.

Adding a Component Detail

Watch the video.

To add a Component Detail to the project, select the Add Comp button from the Detail Manager. A dialog box will appear listing the Categories that have Component details saved. Categories that have Sub-Categories, or Sub-sub-Categories will have a plus (+) symbol next to them, clicking on them will expand that item. Highlight the desired Category and select OK.

After selecting a Category, the Components filed within that Category are displayed.

The upper left corner lists the components that have details. The lower left corner lists the details by name in the component. These are saved by a two digit CSI Division and a two digit detail number. In this manner, if there are a large amount of details for a particular component, they would be grouped by CSI Division.

Highlight the detail you wish to add to the project and select OK. As all of the details for this component interrelate to one another, a dialog box will ask if you wish to add all details for that Component, or just the one selected. Click Yes and all of the details for this component will be added to the project. Click No and only the detail you highlighted will be added to the project.

Detail Placeholder

Use a Detail Callout Placeholder when you want to quickly define where details will be needed, while associating a detail with them at a later time. This is useful if you are not sure if the detail exists in the Standard or Component Detail libraries, or if you want a graphic reminder of what details you will need to develop.

Inserting Detail Placeholders is a similar process to the Detail Callout procedure, except that you do not have to associate a detail with the placeholder at the time of insertion.

Select the type of detail callout you wish, either Section, Arrow, or Circle (as defined in Callout above), and insert the placeholder. The Detail Placeholder symbol is different from a Detail Callout in that is dashed, to identify it as a placeholder.
