Text placement is greatly aided by the Land F/X Font Select function. This allows for font styles to be used, and automatically scales them for both Model Space and Paper Space text placement. With automatic text sizing, Model Space can be the preferred location for labeling of the drawing, while Paper Space could be reserved for schedules and title block text.

Font Specifications are listed on the left side of the Font Manager dialog box, and Font Styles are listed on the right side of the box. When a Font Style is highlighted, the specifications of the selected style are indicated within the Font Specifications. These specifications include the Font Name, Point Size, Width, and Angle.
Highlight one of the Font Styles and select either Text or MText. The Text button will allow for single line text placement, and the MText button allows for multi-line text placement. Notice that the size of the fonts are created with “point” size, rather than actual units of measurement. Most End Users of word processing programs are familiar with “point” sizes and their resultant appearance. The Land F/X fonts will be automatically scaled so that the font will appear the same size when printing if you enter text into Model Space or Paper Space, or go back and forth between the two.
From the Font Manager in Model Space, highlight a Font Style and select the Text button, the crosshairs will appear and text entry into AutoCAD is ready. If the scale of the drawing was set, the text size will automatically be scaled for the Model Space drawing.
From the Font Manager in Paper Space, highlight the same Font Style and select the Text button to enter text into the Paper Space drawing. The text for the same Font Style entered into Paper Space and Model Space will appear the same size, as Model Space and Paper Space scaling is automatically controlled.
The Font Specifications include:
Font: Fonts entered into the Land F/X database are listed by name in a drop down box. See how to add and define fonts in the Land F/X database.
Point Size: The size of fonts are created with “point” size rather than actual units of measurement. The Land F/X fonts will be automatically scaled so that the font will appear the same size if you enter text into Model Space or Paper Space.
Width: Allows the End User to control the width of the font.
Italic: Allows the End User to set a font to an italicized angle.
Layer: Allows setting a font to always appear on on a certain layer.
Font View Box: Displays a sample of the font for viewing.
Font Styles are a listing of styles that currently exist within the Land F/X database. If no project is active the list of Font Styles will be the Standard Font Styles that are available on any drawing at any time. If a project is active, the list of Font Styles will include any Project Font Styles, or font styles that were added when the project was open.
F Remember: Project fonts are active when the project is open and default fonts are active for any project, or when no project is open yet.
