Here at Stantec we have many offices across the United States, Canada and in other countries. Most of our offices have now moved to the cloud for licensing and file data management (MySQL). One problem that we still have is that we're not able to share project data files. We used to be able to do it. Though it was clunky as we had to manually point to their server through the ODBC / System DNS settings on each desktop that would be helping on that project. Now we can't. We end up having to manage a exported/imported LFX file. This leads to potential corruption and changes cannot be made on the LFX file that is being used for obvious reasons.
--- Back before the cloud was an option, Jeremiah and I were speaking about a system that would allow us to share a cloud location for project data files, but would allow us to filter by the first four numbers of the project number. Is this still being considered? If not, is some other system being devised to allow us to share project files between offices without having to navigate through thousands of project files and still have confidence that our LFX files are not being corrupted? - I know that the wizards are at work, but are they on this yet? - Or are we the only ones having to deal with this?
