How do I go about adding new sketchup plants to the library? I like the standard LFX trees for birdseye view, but eye level perspectives get a little wonky. There used to be 2D photo faceme trees, but they don't appear to be in the cloud library any longer. I'd like to do the following:

Add new plant components
Add new plant categories (basically 'Photographic', and 'Illustrated') The reason being, when doing perspective views, I may want to use photo face me trees, or I may want to use a hand sketched face me tree.

I'm assuming I can add new sketchup components in the sketchup folder under landfx? Do these components then get synced to the LFX cloud, or are they only available on our local server?

Can I also add a new folder under LFX that will then show up as a pulldown along with 'evergreen', and 'deciduous'?

While I am asking, would also like to request a feature in the sketchup plugin... the ability to switch out between multiple versions of a tree component, similar to how in LFX, I can switch between the CADD and the color version of a block. In sketchup it would be nice to be able to switch between a low poly version of a component for modeling, then a hi poly version for renderings. I know there are other plugins that automate switching out components, but it would be helpful if it was directly integrated with the LFX sketchup plugin so that it pulled from the same library.

Thanks!
Tim

There currently is a "Browse" button when selecting a component.
That will want it filed under your component library -- so you are welcome to make additional folders beneath Trees and Shrubs.
The plan has always been to have your custom folders show up in the selection alongside the cloud-based folders. We ran into a minor wrinkle trying to implement it with version 8, but much has changed since then, and it is scheduled to be added along with some other enhancements for the plugin.
One of those other enhancements is exactly what you mention, an ability to swap among different component styles or versions (Install vs. Mature, Spring vs. Fall, Low-Res vs. Presentation, etc.).

Great news on the enhancement plan for sketchup to swap out components. Exactly what I was looking to achieve.

If I understand the other part correct, we can add subfolders on the component library for our custom components. Only LFX components will be stored in the cloud, and downloaded as needed. Our custom components will only be stored on our local server. Correct?

Correct.

Is the above info still accurate?
- I can create custom folders in sketchup and browse to it in sketchup
- these custom folders DO NOT show up in the nicely tiled sketchup dialog... only available from 'browse' option.
- I can only browse and select from the landfx sketchup folder path.
All correct?

Still looking at the other enhancements you mentioned? (spring/fall, install vs mature)?

Thanks!
Tim

Hi Tim,

Yes, that's all still correct. The improvements Jeremiah mentioned before have not been scheduled yet. The priority is climbing higher as we finish off other wishlist items!
