How about a lasso and arc, like the pipe size call-outs? That way, we can manually label a pipe size for those times when the system's labeling is inappropriate. For example, I'll set a minimum ML size of 2", but where ever it dead-ends into a quick-coupler, a smaller pipe size is more appropriate. Materials take-off issues aside, this would be a nice feature to have.

Thanks!
I don't like this at all. What if you had hundreds of quick couplers? What if material takeoffs were imperative?
The alternative is a snap -- set the minimum size appropriately, and drop in a Cap to generate the necessary demand for 2" pipe.

Tom,
Another alternative might be the following:

You should be able to make your minimum mainline size to the quick coupler work by simply using a second type of mainline pipe. Set up a second type of mainline pipe with the minimum size to what you wish the dead ends to QC should be. Then just pipe to the QC by changing the class of pipe to type 2 and then size your mainlines. It will then list it correctly.

Let us know if this works for you!
How about just adding a lasso and arc leader to the toolbar for whatever use we want?

I see both your points. Choosing a second class of ML is the obvious work-around for that QC situation.

The only place I'll "force" a pipe size is on dripline headers. I'd also like to be able to label the unconnected exhaust headers.

Thanks!
Even that too, I would rather solve the problem at hand -- sizing dripline headers -- rather than go down the road of a manual, error-prone technique that needs to be repeated hundreds if not thousands of times. We already have a good amount of research into how we want to deal with dripline headers, with a couple users having shared their preferred callout method.

One easy change that could help out in the meantime, is that for the existing Pipe Label tool, when choosing a pipe that hasn't been sized yet, it could offer a list of available sizes the same as when labeling a Sleeve.

Alright--thanks, J. I look for forward to that capability!
