Request for movement on creating blocks for site and architectural elements that landscape architects would actually use in when we have to draft or trace to create our own base files. This is a follow-up to my own request via email from 5+ years ago as well as those of David's (6 yrs), Brian's (3 yrs), and Sarah's (1 yr) ago. While I am confident that LandFX's current architectural blocks of grand pianos, bathtubs, office chairs, & sectional sofas are nice, these are of little use. For items that would be useful, I would like to share a screen-shot of the plan view blocks pop-up window, showing the thumbnails of blocks created over the years. However, a LandFX software update within the past year or so dropped out all the homegrown block thumbnails. Once the thumbnails were recreated and reloaded, a subsequent 'update' has dropped all those self-created thumbnails and the majority of my own blocks do not load as a selection. (so yes, when time allows, I will repeat those steps)
in lieu of that, I share various screenshots showing file names...but review a topographic survey of recorded site elements and then walk around a built environment to note of all the non-sexy things on a typical job site, residential or commercial, from electrical transformers to garage doors, gates, sign posts, gas meters to basement escape window wells...please chime in with other items.
Also explore site demo symbols, what stays, what goes.

Sorry for the late Friday afternoon post, but thank you for your attention to this useful endeavor.

Jeff,

Gotcha, duly noted.
It can certainly be challenging trying to make everybody happy. We have plenty of requests for a complete Grading & Drainage system, going back 20 years. People have requested more plant photos and 3D plant symbols, they want auto-labeling tools, there's no end to the callout customizations that users request, sheet setup, drawing cleanup tools, more construction details, more manufacturer blocks, paver patterns, my the list goes on and on. And yes, in among the requests we've received over the years, is a request for more simple blocks for windows, doors, gas meters, and the like. Got it.
Of course, we are a landscape architecture software company, and doors and windows are pretty squarely in the architecture realm, meaning there must be a bevy of such available on the internet? Let's take a quick look... yeah.... Well, you know, between the many, many sites promising free door and window blocks, there is now also AI which can quite reliably create these sort of blocks on the fly. It's quite an exciting time.
I'm sure we will get to more of those blocks, but the AI thing is worth noting - maybe instead we just need an AI attendant who will create whatever block you need on the fly, instead of us having to pre-create every conceivable symbol.

I will admit though, that we tend to apply a pretty simple evaluation to wishlist requests to see what should be prioritized. It's a simple calculation of what time might be saved, who the feature might apply to, and then a sprinkling of consideration of how cool it will look in a video to show it off. And pretty consistently, requests for plain blocks do tend to lose out to feature requests that can save large amounts of time, or for more manufacturer-specific content.

That being said, we did wrap up a massive upgrade in our generic content this year, with a simultaneous launch of exactly similar content available in CAD, Revit, and SketchUp, representing many thousands of hours of effort. I agree that there is plenty more generic content that we can add, but this represented a huge step forward, as we standardized all of our content and also engineered all of our administrative and management tools for the generic library. It's a little disheartening that you would appear to be the target audience for this massive update, yet it didn't quick connect with you.

But, just try to keep in mind, that when you *do* need a grand piano block, we have one in there for you. ;)
