Greetings!

Our firm uses Blender for 3D modeling.

Are there plans to release a Blender extension/add-on that would connect Blender to the 3d Connection feature?

Please
Sebastian,
That is an interesting idea, but as of now it isn't on our radar. We would love to know more about how you are using blender for 3D modeling for your site design, and what that workflow currently looks like, along with any examples you could share. As I have played with/used Blender, I am having a hard time understanding how you would expect a plugin like ours would be integrated, and how it would function.

If you wish to discuss this more offline, you are welcome to send things into support@landfx.com and we can go from there as well.

Adding to what Jake mentioned, I see Blender does have an API, although the dialog controls are pretty rudimentary from what I can tell, so making a custom dialog box able to view and select 3D models could be a bit challenging.
We would certainly prefer keeping the symbol selection dialog as being HTML, and if there isn't a way to call that from Python then it would be a non-starter.
But as they continue to expand what the API is capable of, we could even consider creating a Software Development Kit, that allows adding on our HTML dialog boxes to any compatible platform.

Thank you for your responses! Jake, just to give a flavor of how we use - we are a landscape design and planning firm that uses QGis for our GIS mapping. Probably preaching to the choir, but while QGis doesn't have as much adoption in the US but is the standard throughout the rest of the world. We love Blender because, aside from being open source, it has very solid GIS integration via the BlenderGIS plugin, enabling us to easily import large geolocated GIS datasets easily for seamless 3D representation. This workflow is very smooth and approachable.

Being able to seamless bring in our landscape designs in LandFX into Blender in 3D would enable us to more seamlessly integrate our LandFX designs with our 3D GIS data, which would be huge for our workflow. Right now we are able to go thru Sketchup or Rhino, but it creates bottlenecks and complexity and seems to really limit the usage.

Jeremiah, I'm not familiar with the programming end of things to comment on the logistics, but I know Blender has a very robust plugin community.

I can understand if its not a priority for LandFX at the moment, but if it ever becomes one, would be glad to talk thru in more detail!

Thanks again for the quick responses.
