I'm using AutoCAD's native sheet set manager for batch plotting-- it is the only way I have found to batch plot using a third party plotter. (Here's a record of my journey figuring that one out: )
I'm also using LandFX's sheet index manager thingy for linking detail bugs.
This situation becomes a bit tedious when sheets need to be renumbered, reordered, or re-titled... lots of changing it in multiple places. Opportunity for human error, you see. Is it true that I can't batch plot from the LandFX sheet index? Is there a way to link the data one to the other? How do other people handle this?

Hi Katherine,
Yes you can link the Sheet Index to your sheet set manager. This page goes over how to set your sheetset fields for the Land F/X Sheet Index system to pick up: Working With Sheet Sets (SheetSets).
Thanks,
Amanda

Katherine,
You don't have to use SheetSets in order to Batch Plot. You could just use the Batch Plot (Publish) command, and have a saved list of sheets.
We do have a pending wishlist item for Land F/X to be able to recognize when a SheetSet sheet number has been changed.

Amanda-- thank you thank you thank you!!!
Jeremiah- my experience has been that when I batch plot with PUBLISH using a third party plotter (we switched to foxit because it works better with LandFX renderings), even when it is set to create a multi-sheet PDF, it will generate multiple single-sheet PDFs. For whatever reason, batch plotting through the sheet set manager instead allows me to batch plot with foxit and it results in a multi-sheet PDF.

Katerine,
FoxIt allows you to Merge PDF's, so there is that option too:

I also see the "multi-sheet file" option in the Batch Plot options, that is not working with a third-party PDF?

Yeah, I can combine single sheet files with Foxit or with Acrobat, but that takes an extra step, and life is too short.
Also yes, when I batch plot using publish with the multisheet files option selected and sending it through foxit, it ignores the multisheet setting and creates single sheets. I don't really recommend going down this rabbit hole but if you're interested you can look at previous work on the subject... Title

Well I would do everything in my power to not use the SSM, it is a clunky, confusing, error-prone piece of junk.
It certainly seems the easiest solution for you is to remove that Windows Update that has thrown your FoxIt under the bus. (And as well, to contact FoxIt regarding the issue)
The second-easiest, would be to explore AcroPlot or BlueBeam, which should offer output consistent with FoxIt.
I would also agree with the other poster, that TrueType fonts will offer better output, and the Scale Lineweights option should not be used.

Jeremiah, I really appreciate the time and thought you're putting into this. You must have a longstanding beef with the SSM. It seems to be working okay for now as long as I am only using it for batch plotting.
I looked into rolling back that update, but wasn't confident that I could do it without breaking my machine completely. I also contacted Foxit, who only had a vague idea about what AutoCAD is. They clearly tried their best to help and sent me links to basic autodesk help pages about multisheet plotting.
I have not tested this with AcroPlot or BlueBeam, but I have a feeling that it also wouldn't work with those... if anyone knows otherwise I would love to hear it!
There is a gathering mound of evidence that our office should switch to TTF, but I'm not ready to take on that battle.

$.02 worth.
$0.01 Be aware that TTF's take longetr to plot (even to PDF). Take a single sheet covered in specifications. Plot the same sheet with the style set to romans.shx and then to Arial.ttf. You will fine that the sheet takes about half of the time.
$0.01 If you are using LandFX it's because that you believe in being efficient. Using the Sheet Set Manager (dst file) AND Fields has so many advantages it would be a pity to not use it. LandFX will be making these work together more seamlessly in the future. They have plans to and they'll just have to as more of us understand the efficiency of using fields in conjunction with dst files.
