I just modified a city standard detail to fit our LandFX detail workflow. I placed and deleted the detail template several times in the process of figuring out the right scale. Now the detail looks great, but when I place it on the sheet, the detail number stays at 00. When I'm placing it, it does pop up the window asking me which detail number I want it to be, but that number doesn't appear on the sheet.

I tried deleting the detail from the sheet and the project, purging, deleting the detail template in the detail file, purging, replacing the detail template, saving the updated detail, and replacing it on the sheet- still stuck at 00. Just for kicks, I restarted CAD, and the detail number still doesn't work.

I also tried placing this detail in a new project, and the number doesn't work there, either. Something must be wrong with the detail itself... so I will attach it.

Katherine and I reviewed the issue in a phone call.

The issue stemmed from the detail being edited and not being re-saved using the Save Detail tool in the F/X Detail ribbon.

The solution is:
1. Open the detail file using the "Edit Detail" tool in the F/X Detail ribbon.
2. With the detail file open, click "Save Detail" in the F/X Detail ribbon.
3. Choose to overwrite the detail. Click ok in the detail window that pops up to keep everything the same.
4. In the drawing where the detail number was coming in as 00, delete that detail block, purge the drawing, and then place the detail again. The number will come in properly.

Further notes on the troubleshooting:
Always use the acad.dwt template file when testing from a blank drawing, instead of a blank customized office template file. Sometimes (although not in this case in particular), the issue can stem from the office template file itself used to create all office drawings. Starting from the acad.dwt template file avoids accidentally getting the same error in a "blank" drawing when the drawing is not actually blank.

Hi Katherine,

I tried saving that detail into my own Land F/X install and placing it into a blank drawing. The detail number showed up fine.

First, check your updates, and make sure that you're updated to the latest version of Land F/X.
https://www.landfx.com/index.php/docs/admin/fx-admin-tools/item/174-updates.html

Next, rule out drawing corruption. Save a copy of the file and detach all xrefs. Do a manual clean of the drawing that you're trying to place the detail into (I didn't see any corruption in that detail file).
Cleaning Drawings Manually:
https://www.landfx.com/index.php/docs/admin/drawing-setup/item/1147-drawing-cleanup.html

If that works, clean the xrefs first with nuke or manual clean, and then manually clean your original file.
Cleaning Your Drawings & Xrefs:

Thanks,
Amanda

Hi Amanda!

I verified that LandFX is up to date. I believe I also ruled out drawing corruption in that when I close the project I'm working in, open a fresh instance of autocad, and place the detail in a new project (new DWG and new LandFX project), the number still doesn't update.
