Redoing a design to adjust rotor locations for a revised property line.  The area is a large open field with rotors for native grass seed establishment only.  Because of that, I'm not putting the heads at head-to-head coverage with the owner's approval.

Is there an easy way to copy along a line at a distance GREATER than the radius?  I can space by best fit or exact... but that limits me to equal to or less than the radius.

Also, I've got a Layout grid at the spacing I want the heads actually at for guidance.  But I can't Object Snap the head to the intersection of the grid lines, so my rotors are always just a little off being in-line.  Is there a way to do that, or an easy way to quickly lay full circle heads out in a grid without clicking one by one, similar to laying out along a line?

Thanks!

Julie,

This is a great question. You have a few options here:

1- Use our Rectangular/Triangular Array tool to set the max spacing on the given head you select. You will have a Best and Exact option, yes, but you will put in the actual head spacing to adhere to. So for example, if you know the spacing at the furthest point is 43', then type 43' in that cell. Combine that with the Best fit option and you can play with getting things right in line with your grid you have placed.

2- Use the copy along line function and press the "1" key, it will allow you to set your distance on the fly, so you can change distances per row as needed. I would also say to use the Best fit option here since it gives you the greatest flexibility.

Here are a few links that go over these tools. Please let us know if you have any further questions or if I have misunderstood what you are after here.
