Hi,

I'm having a similar issue to the post from Mid-January about High GPM calculated in drip zones. Except in my case I'm using dripline, not drip area. I originally replaced the dripline in the project with a different brand and spacing/gph. When attempting to size lateral line, it errors out and says I need greater than 3". So I deleted the dripline, and added new. Still errors out.

My calcs show that for this single zone in my project (drawn off the plan, until we figure out what's wrong), I should only have about 7.7 gpm. Definitely not 3" lateral material.

Can someone poke around? This drawing is a mess, too many people futzing around. Suspect that's part of the problem.

Okay! This was a tricky one to figure out.
The quick answer on the solution -- edit your Pipe Data, and change the Pressure Variation to 0%(Off).

The issue here, is that you have 200' of 1/2" dripline, running at 5fps, and a design pressure of 20psi.
So that is generating 7.25psi of friction loss. When the system compares that to your allowable loss, 20% of 20psi, or 4psi, it drops the velocity until it errors out.

So in this case, often with drip, and very often with a design pressure of 20psi, the pressure variation factor really makes no sense, and you would instead want to just turn that feature off.

There are obvious improvements in the software here, most notably that it should still let you into the Size Laterals dialog box in order to correct this situation.
But you should certainly be able to move forward in the meantime.

I assume you have tried restarting CAD?
If so, try deleting one of the areas and re-placing it; then Edit the area to see if it's GPM is more nominal. If so, it sounds like you would need to re-place all the areas.

Hi Jeremiah. I have restarted Cad. I've also deleted and redrawn the drip line (it's linear, not a drip area), deleted the drip in the .fx data and re-entered it as a new dripline. I haven't tested in a new cad file yet... I'll try that in the morning.

The data when I view the properties of the drip line appears correct.
...and what does it show in the data for the dripline?

makes this much easier.
My only thought is if there is an issue with Decimal Feet, or otherwise a unit issue.
I will test this further after our office lunch!

Thank you Jeremiah! Worked great. I'll run my pipe sizing for the drip valves on this project using 0%.
