I have drawn in all my lateral lines, some of which are arcs. I had clicked on Lateral, then Draw Lateral, then I typed "A" to draw in any segments that I wanted arc'ed. So they should be drawn in properly.

When I click once on an arc'ed lateral line to add a pipe hop, the command line reads

Pipe segment too small for standard size arc.
First hop point: *Cancel*
First hop point:

and my cursor is active to click on a "First hop point." Then I click on the lateral line once and the command line reads "Arc end point:" and I click on a second point, which brings up a pop-up window "Point(s) selected are not within pipe segment." Then the pipe hop command ends and I have no pipe hop. No matter where I seem to click for "First hop point" and "Arc end point" the same pop-up window appears every time. When I verify the laterals, everything is checked green. Is there something I'm overlooking or haven't checked to make these pipe hops work for me?

Thanks,
Kelly

Sorry, I misread your initial post.
You cannot place a hop on an segment drawn as an arc.

Kelly,

From this account, the messages all appear genuine. You first select a pipe segment, and the segment you have selected is too small for the standard size arc. So you are apparently clicking on an extremely small pipe segment. You can easily check this by simply selecting it.
The second message appears to confirm this, in telling you that your second point chosen is not on the same pipe segment as the first point. So again pointing to the cause that you are initially clicking on a very short pipe segment.

One of the arcs is a length of 54' (from fitting to fitting). Graphically this should be long enough to add a pipe hop...?

Got it, thank you!

As a side note, because there is an option for drawing lateral arcs, I assumed I could add pipe hops later. Now that I know I can't add a pipe hop to these segments, I won't be drawing lateral lines as arcs in the future.
Kelly,

I'm not sure that's the best solution. Here's an EASY solution that we use.
1. Erase the arc.
2. Create an arc, a line where you expect to need a pipe hop, and another arc section.
3. If your pipe is already sized, resize it.

Now you can create a pipe hop which 'appears' to be on our arc. Much cleaner than a bunch of line segments like we did back in the 70's and 80's.

I hope that this makes you life easier and your plans cleaner and easier for a contractor to read.

I will give that a try, thanks Seaweed!
