Good afternoon,

Our IT department had to reinstall 2020 on my machine.  We haven't yet activated it so I'm using the 30 days until we do so.  However, when I ran the update, it loaded over 2400 Land F/X projects which don't belong to our organization.  After we activate, can I simply delete those projects without impact to whomever they truly belong to?

Thanks,

Julie

Hi Julie,

Don't delete any projects. These are part of your office's cloud data project list.

You used to look at a local database on a server, and your IT appears to have installed you to a Cloud database. While Cloud Data is better in a lot of ways and is probably a good move, it's better to get there deliberately, not accidentally.

I'll open up a ticket and have an install technician reach out to you. This is best handled that way since they'll have to talk about your office's preferred server setup.

Actually, It looks like some do belong to us as a whole, just not the particular region I work with.  Can I still delete them without impact?

Thanks,

Julie

Julie,

The ones with tildes at the top are Templates that have been mistakenly imported as a project.  They can most certainly be safely deleted.

It would be worthwhile to make sure the configuration is correct - it looks likely that they mistakenly set you to an old local database, instead of your cloud data.  If you submit a ticket from the Tech Support button in the software, it will send us additional diagnostic data.

Resolution with Megan is that we're going to leave me on the cloud. There's obvious benefit if we need to reinstall again in the future.  I'll leave everyone else's files be and learn to love the cloud :)

Thanks everyone.
