Hi,

I'm using the new plant symbol library and have assigned alphanumeric symbols and a custom color to each plant type. Both display correctly in the drawing.

However, when I generate a plant schedule, the symbol column doesn't show the alphanumeric characters or the custom plant colors.

Is there a setting or step I'm missing to get these to carry into the schedule? Thanks!

Sarah,

This can happen if you are running the schedule through the xref.
The schedule should appear correctly if you run the schedule in the design file.

Hi Jeremiah. I am running the schedule through the design file but it's still not working. (Sorry for the double forum posts!)
Sarah,
I just tested and things are working properly for my schedule. It might be that you have not unchecked the CODE option within the schedule dialog. Unchecking this option will make the code fall within the symbol.

Hmmm... still not working for me. I'll use the old symbol library in the meantime. I like the new symbol library a lot, just can't get the scheudle to work quite right now. Would it help if I sent you my file or screenshots? Thanks!
Information, screen shots, files, any of the above would be helpful.

Nothing changed regarding alphanumerics with the update, so the code not appearing in the schedule symbol is no different than how it's ever been. If you have the Code column turned on, or Entire Palette, then the symbol will appear without the code.

As for the color, if the symbol is correctly colored in the plan, it should also be so in the schedule.

Hello, I am having the same issue as Sarah.

Typically, when I add plant assets, I go into the plant symbol detail and add a semi transparent color on a separate layer. Usually, when I would generate the plant schedule, this would show the updated symbol.
However, with the new update, the plant schedule generates the original symbol detail without my added watercolor layer (even though it is turned on).
Juliet,

We were able to solve Sarah's issue thanks to a different user who sent in their files, and we were able to determine an issue with the plant schedule and the newly renamed Shrub alphanumeric blocks. Her issue was exclusively an alphanumeric block issue. I'm not sure if that's what you are experiencing. But overall, I can tell you that your workflow is unnecessarily complex. Our symbols already have such a color layer within them, so there is no need for that tedious manual effort for every single plant.
But also, there's really not much we can do with just a description like that. Perhaps if there was more detail. As in, what is the block name in the drawing? Is it the same block in the schedule? What is the layer name in question? With answers to all of this, we could take a more informed guess. Or with the actual file, we could get to the actual issue.

The reason I do this is because I like to use light watercolors with transparency hatch; it's a specific look I couldn't achieve with the current default colors you offer in the library.

I just checked and indeed the block name in the drawing is different from the one that used in the schedule. Is there any way to fix this? I'd be happy to send the actual file, but it says below that dwg aren't supported.
Juliet,

Both our legacy color symbols, and the new ones, exclusively use transparent solid fills, so this look is achievable with either.
You are welcome to send in the file via our tech support channel.
