Hello,
My team and I have two questions about snaps when placing plants. First: When a plant is selected the user has the ability to press F3 to turn on and off snaps. However, while a plant is selected for placement, the user does not have the ability to turn grid snap on or off. The user must exit out of the plant placement command and out of the plant manager to just turn off and on the grid snap. Why does object snap have the ability to turn off and on when a plant is being placed but not grid snap? Secondly: When using object snap when placing plants, the snap indicators do not appear (they work but are invisible with no indicator of what snap is being prioritized). Is this an autocad thing or is it a FX plant tool issue? Looking forward to hearing your response!

Daniel,

In order to support features such as the crisp realtime preview of the scaled plant symbol, and the various keyboard commands for things like switching to Copy Along Polyline or Shotgun placement mode, we utilize a custom mouse and keyboard input routine. Thus the only function keys that work are ones that we expressly enable. And the visible glyphs of Osnap mode are not displayed, although we are able to run the current mouse coordinates through an AutoCAD Osnap function. The only issue, is that this is a bit slower than when manually inserting or moving objects, so we purposely do not allow any and all snap modes to function.
We certainly could enable Grid snap, but we already have Rectangular and Triangular array tools that operate much easier, as well as our Paint mode. My preference would be to improve our tools that are already integrated in and easier to use than the CAD Grid settings. But let me know what exactly you are after and we can see what might be best.
