Is there a quick way to have the planting shadows print almost completely black? I'm sure there is a layer setting, I just am not able to find it.

Apologies for the delay, it seems our forum was not sending out email notifications.
The plant shadows are controlled via standard AutoCAD plotting. The LK-TREE-SHAD* and LK-SHRB-SHAD-* layers have colors and/or transparency assigned, and you are welcome to either print without transparency, or to change their color.
You can make permanent color changes in Preferences. That process is covered in this webinar.
