Sometimes we set up projects on 11x17 to make it easier when working in the field during CA. When setting up the detail sheets I use the LFX standard detail template and right before printing I end up manually scaling the details down by .46 to fit on the 11x17 sheet. Is there a better way to get the details to fit? or am I missing something?

Brian,

When I need reduced sets, I just 'scale to fit' on the plot dialog box so I don't actually scale the detail templates themselves. That way my drawing is not affected.

Brian,

I also always do a similar as CadMonkey. Keep the layout at 24x36 (or whatever normal full size is). I usually always plot to PDF first, and either print that PDF 100% to a plotter for 24x36, or scale to fit for an 11x17 reduction for on-site reference.

But then it its not printed to scale.

I guess we could set up those projects we want to be 11x17 at 22x34 and print half size, that way it would still be to some kind of scale.

Could a scale factor be included in the detail preferences? or would that get too confusing?

I didn't think printing to scale mattered here, because you're "manually scaling the details down by .46 to fit on the 11x17 sheet".

I'd say if you want a 11x17 detail sheet plotted to scale, you shouldn't be scaling down your details to fit on the sheet, which means you likely can only fit 2-3 details on a sheet at scale.

We'd always have a full scale set with us on site if we really needed to pull out the scale ruler, but relied on the 11x17 sheets with a visual scale bar for easy reference.

See attached for an example. I misspoke earlier. The plans in the 11x17 set print to scale but I scale the details down to fit the sheet.

Brian,

In CAD, L5 can be 11x17, and D1 can be 24x36. Plot it to PDF. PDF will have 1 small and 1 large page. Print the PDF. Choose fit to sheet, choosing an 11x17 page size, and they'll both fit to 11x17.

CadMonkey's method would also work.

Nevermind, I found out a solution in a roundabout way.
