There seems to be unclear guidance in the LandF/X Documentation regarding setting active preferences.

Previously, if you had a preference set as active, all new blank drawings would default to the active preference set.
This aligns with the first 2 paragraphs in the documentation about assigning a preference set to a project.

Recently, I have been unable to get a preference set as active. After setting the desired preference set as active, all new blank drawings default to the first alphabetical order preference set.
This aligns with the important note in the same section of the documentation. I was able to replicate this issue with another Land F/X user.

This is incredibly frustrating for a user that has multiple preference sets for different clients. While I may have multiple preference sets, I will typically be working within a preference set for an extended period of time. The first alphabetical order default means that I must change the preference setting every single time, unless it happens to be the first in the alphabetical order. It was much more productive for the default to be the last used (or active) preference set and only change the active preference set when needed. Having been in firms that used both single and multiple preference sets, the default to the last used (or active) preference set is productive in both scenarios; whereas the alphabetical default negatively impacts multiple preference set users.

Stephanie,

We'll be sure to clarify in the documentation.
No functionality regarding active preference sets has changed in many years. There never was any ability to retain the active preference set across multiple new drawings. Each drawing is its own session, and will always default to the alphabetically first preference set. To hold a different preference set, you need to created a project.
I did test, by setting a different preference set. Then when I go to make a new project, that preference set is selected in the list. So all functionality is operating as designed.
So it sounds like the only minor tweak to your workflow that is required, is to create the project sooner, and associate the project with each new drawing as a first step.

Jeremiah,

Thank you for your response. Quick question before I start changing all of my preference names....
If I have a drawing template set to an assigned preference set, will a new drawing using the template be active in the assigned preference set or will it default to alphabetically first preference set?

Additionally, when you update the documentation, this should be added to the multiple preference downside comment.

Thanks,
Stephanie
Preference Set assignment is not saved with a drawing, at all. Never has been.
So if you set Preference Set "ZZZZ" active in a blank drawing, and then save that drawing, after re-opening it, you will see Preference Set "AAAA" is active.
The only thing saved with a drawing, is its Project assignment. Then the project has a preference set assignment.
