A feature that would place the 3 letter code on plants . these would be just in the center. They could work like a highlight plant, where the appear then you just start the command again and they disappear .

Reasoning: It is hard to remember all the symbols and I don't label to the end

Robert,
Have you tried docking your Plant Manager while working? We find this extremely helpful when placing plants and highlighting them on the fly to see where things are throughout the plan. Using the Match Properties tool in combination with the Q & E keys is also a great tool since it will list in the command line, the plant name you have active. We also suggest running a schedule for a reference point when looking through the plan.

You could also switch your plant symbols out for our Alphanumeric blocks, then at the end, replace them with regular symbols. As you change them to alphanumerics, you will see the slight time lag required to do so — this is why it really can’t be “on the fly” for every command.

Jake, I understand all those, but I believe all those ways still require you to label the plant, or replace the blocks.. I was just wondered if it would be possible for a quick flash of the symbols or names to appear on the screen.
Robert,

Like Jake said, the swapping out of symbols, especially *all* symbols, is not an instant thing -- it would chug for a few seconds, I would say quite possibly 6 or 7 on a large or complex plan with multiple xrefs. So it's just not a "quick flash" sort of thing. So that being said, let's look at how the existing tools can be tweaked. As Jake said, having the Plant Palette docked is very helpful, especially with the "Placed" option checked -- you can quickly click on Highlight to see where a particular variety is. After Right Clicking, you can then RC again to re-fire Highlight Plant, and click on a different plant -- here I see a chance to add something, it could echo to the command line the name of the plant highlighted. Also note that when you click Match Plant, and select a plant, it will be selected in the Palette. Here too though, I see that it could also be helpful to again echo to the command line the name of the plant selected.
Lastly, firing the Block Data command quickly is the old standby for identifying a plant in a complex plan -- this is something you could assign to a keyboard command to make faster.
Let me know if these seem like good enough workarounds.
