I always leave bits of main line and laterals around that aren't part of a zone, or aren't connected to anything. How about a "highlight un-sized pipe" function to make it easy to find and delete those annoying tag ends and bits?

Thanks!

Tom,
It sounds like you need to be a little more careful when drawing ;)

We suggest throwing a quick Work Area around an area and run a schedule to see if it shows up in that specific area, then move that Work Area around until you find what you are looking for. The link below explains this as well.

If you are colorizing your pipe, you could quickly select all polylines on that layer that are still set to Color ByLayer.

When that happens to me (and it's usually like 2' of pipe somewhere in a huge drawing where I probably double clicked real fast at some point) I just select the layer the pipe is on (lateral or main layers - usually it's a chunk of lateral pipe though) and copy/paste the whole layer off to the side the drawing against a blank area of my cad background. I run a black CAD background, so it's really easy to see a snippet of different color pipe - my eye goes right to it. Then I pick off the errant pipe piece(s) in the real drawing and then I select all my copied lines and delete those.

It's a lot easier to see this way in a huge drawing than trying to find it among other line work - the lateral remnants show up magenta. Saves a lot of zooming, panning and eyestrain.

YMMV
All good ideas. And yes, Jake, I work fast. Very fast. Care be damned.
