The Console tool in our Planting F/X for Revit Plugin brings a location in Revit for us to store useful troubleshooting commands that would be used so infrequently that they'd just clutter the ribbon.

The Revit user interface does not include a location for users to type in text-only commands, so we provided this feature as a place to store new commands either:

• Temporarily while they're being developed for beta testing and before they're ready for a ribbon button, or
• Permanently for rare debugging tools

Console Tool Overview

Open the Console tool:

Planting F/X ribbon, Land F/X Console flyout

The Planting F/X Console dialog box will open.

 

Type the command you need to use in the Enter a command field, then click OK. See the list of available commands below.

Available Commands

The following commands are currently available in the Console tool:

• LANDFXDIALOGRESET (Shorthand version: DR)

Certain Planting F/X dialog boxes, such as the Plant Manager, will now be created initially at the center of the primary screen, at the default size of 400 by 400px.

 

Use this command if you click the ribbon button for one of these dialog boxes and it doesn't appear. It could be floating and stuck off screen – a common Windows bug.

This command will place the dialog box correctly in the center of your primary screen.

• SYSTEMDUMP (Shorthand Version: SD)

A technical support specialist here at Land F/X may ask you to run this command to help us gather debugging information to troubleshoot an issue you're reporting. You may also use this command yourself to confirm office IT standards for installing Planting F/X.
