Use this crosshair measuring tool inside enclosed areas. Move your mouse around to see the precise horizontal and vertical distances to the nearest parallel lines.
Let F/X CAD tell you what's different between two drawings! Use the COMPARE command, and see what's new and what's gone with easy-to-see revision clouds you can hop between. Then, either import the changes or export a snapshot of the changes for your records.
It's easier to select the objects you want to purge out of your drawings. You can even view previews of blocks you're purging. It's also incredibly easier to find items you can't purge. See the reasons they can't purge – if they're placed, or referenced in an MLEADERSTYLE, for example. Want to select and zoom to those objects automatically? Just click the blue finder icon.
The dark theme is now a lot easier on the eyes for long days of drafting, and 2020 features crisper icons whose better-contrasting colors help make them faster to recognize at a glance. You can still switch to light theme if desired, with the same HiDPI icons. Also, if a contextual tab opens itself, such as the Layout or Hatch contextual tab, it will be highlighted to clearly denote that it's active.
Each save is now 66% faster, and regenerating after layer properties changes, like changing colors, is 88% faster. Also, accessing items over a network – such as Xrefs, blocks, and support files – is faster. These seconds will add up every day, greatly reducing interruptions to your workflow.
Have an online folder service installed? When you go to Save, Save As, or Open from F/X CAD 2020, you'll see a shortcut to that service readily available.
You'll speak with real people. What’s even better? Getting that support from real landscape architects and irrigation designers.

If you have a previous version of F/X CAD you can upgrade to the latest version and get access to all of the new features.
No. F/X CAD requires a supported version of a Land F/X license – that is, Planting F/X, Design F/X, or Irrigation F/X.
No. F/X CAD is the base CAD platform that our Land F/X licenses add on top of. We are able to sell F/X CAD without a Land F/X license to our existing clients who already own their Land F/X license. F/X CAD will not work without a supported Land F/X license.
No. If you already have AutoCAD 2019, or any vertical version (e.g., Civil 3D, Mechanical, etc.), you cannot install F/X CAD because these versions are also AutoCAD. You will need to follow our uninstallation steps to completely remove Civil 3D or any other version of AutoCAD 2019 before installing F/X CAD.
Autodesk’s policy is to provide us with your Activation Code within 48 hours of receiving your Request Code. In most cases, you’ll get your Activation Code within 24 hours. We recommend that you submit your Request Code before your trial expires. Once your trial expires, you will not be able to use F/X CAD until you receive the Activation Code.
No. Each install of F/X CAD will generate a different Request Code, which will then generate a unique Activation Code. You’ll need to go through the activation process each time you install F/X CAD.
We support two activations per purchase – one for an office computer and one for a home computer, for example. F/X CAD requires a Land F/X license to operate.
No, but we recommend it. A 1-year upgrade to the latest version will cost $500. If you skip versions, upgrades of 2 or more years will cost $995. We support the 5 most recent year versions of CAD. Versions of F/X CAD older than the 2 most recent versions are considered “Legacy” and will require a $50 activation fee for each re-installation.
No. The upgrade costs cover:
1. The latest version of AutoCAD
2. Land F/X tech support on all F/X CAD issues (installation, activation, plotting, crashing, opening & saving files, customization)
3. Hot fixes & Object Enablers.
Yes. However, when you skip versions of F/X CAD,
you pay for the upgrades missed:
Version to version: $500
Skip 1 year: $995
Skip 2 years: $995
Skip 3 years: $995
No. The $50 activation fee for Legacy installs covers one activation for one installation.
No. Once you’ve paid for a Legacy activation and the activation has gone through, the fee cannot be credited to your upgrade cost.
Yes. F/X CAD is an AutoCAD license and will work with all other CAD platforms. Your files will be compatible with other versions, and vice versa.
Yes, F/X CAD can import PDF documents.
Unfortunately, as part of our contract with Autodesk, you cannot.
No, we are not allowed to enable LISP routines on F/X CAD. The good news is that most LISP routines requested by our clients are already built into the Land F/X licenses. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are looking for specifc functionality, and we will help you out!
Yes. Autodesk is maintaining a full downward file compatibility. Even drawings from version 2000 will open.
Yes. Because F/X CAD includes a genuine Autodesk AutoCAD engine, it can view proxy objects.
