Install a Land F/X Trial – Local Data

The following steps are for installing a trial version of Land F/X software using our Local Data option. If you do not have a reliable Internet connection but want to try our software, you are in the right place.


However, most trial users will want to install a trial using Cloud Data. If you have a reliable Internet connection, we recommend using our Cloud Data trial installer instead.


Step 1: Prerequisites

To complete this installation, you will need:

Your Land F/X Support ID*.

*You or your office will have received your Support ID in an email from Land F/X.


A single office or home computer that already has a compatible CAD engine and DOES NOT already have Land F/X installed on a server.

Land F/X is compatible with AutoCAD, F/X CAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoCAD Map 3D, or AutoCAD Architecture, version 2013 or newer.

Land F/X is not compatible with AutoCAD LT.


The location where you will store your LandFX folder.

This folder will contain all data associated with your installation and your projects. In most cases, we recommend keeping our default location for your LandFX folder – directly on your C: drive (C:/LandFX). More information >


If you are unsure of any of these items, please contact your IT administrator.


Step 2: Download the Land F/X Installer

2A. Right-click the Land F/X Installer download link below.

Select "Save Target As" or "Save Link As" from the menu that appears, and save the file to your desktop.

The installer is quite a large piece of software. Please allow 5 to 10 minutes for the download to complete.


Step 3: Install Land F/X Server



3A. Go to your desktop, and double-click the file complete_setup if you saved it there. If you clicked the download link directly, this file will likely be in your Downloads folder.




The InstallShield Wizard will open. You can now begin the steps to install the Land F/X Server.


3B. Welcome Screen: Click Next.
3C. License Agreement: Scroll down and select Accept if you agree. Click Next.
3D. Installation Type: Select Server and Workstation. Click Next.
3E. Support ID: Enter your support ID.
You can find your Support ID in the Trial Approval email you received from Land F/X.

3F. Product Activated: Click OK.



3G. Destination Folder: This folder path will become the location where all your Land F/X data and projects are stored.

For Single-User installations, we recommend keeping the default location of C:\LandFX\ – the C: drive on your computer.

Click Next when finished.

3H. Database Installation: If you do not have a reliable Internet connection, select Local Data and click Next.


Cloud Data vs. Local Data

We recommend Cloud Data for firms with a fast and reliable Internet connection, as well as offices with employees who plan to work remotely on home computers or laptops.


Selecting Local Data at this point will allow you to try Land F/X software even if your office does not have a reliable Internet connection. You can always switch to Cloud Data in the future.

3I. Ready to Install the Program: Click Install.
Please allow several minutes for the server installation to complete.
3J. InstallShield Wizard Completed: Click Finish.

It may appear that the installation is starting over, but it isn't. You have completed the installation for the Server component of Land F/X. You will now be completing a second series of steps, which will install the Workstation component.

Step 4: Install Land F/X Workstation

4A. Welcome Screen: Click Next.
4B. License Agreement: Scroll down and select Accept if you agree. Click Next.

4C. Setup Type: Select which ribbon tabs will be visible in your installation.


For example, if you are installing Design F/X, you may want to select the Design F/X option so only the Admin, Site, and Details ribbons are visible. (With a Design F/X license, only these ribbons are functional, so you may only want these ribbons to be visible.)

You can always turn the visibility of specific ribbons on or off after you've installed. 


4D. F/X Server Network Location: In this step, you'll select the location of your F/X Server, which you set in the Install Land F/X Server step above.


In most cases, we recommend keeping the default location of C:\LandFX. If you did keep the default location, simply click Next.

Don't know the location of your LandFX folder? Click the Can't locate your LandFX folder? button.

4E. Ready to Install the Program: Click Install.
Please allow a few minutes for the installation to complete.
4F. InstallShield Wizard Completed: Click Finish.


Issue: Error message: This Product is not registered. Please reactivate it by typing REACTIVATE.

Solution: Reactivate your installation, then restart CAD.


• Issue: Don't see Land F/X anywhere? Is there no Launch Land F-X shortcut on your desktop?

Solution: Navigate to the C:/LandFX folder (or the location where your LandFX folder is stored) and run (double-click) the setup64/setup.exe file.


Issue: When you open CAD, can you not see your Land F/X ribbons or menus?

Solution: Load the Land F/X menus manually >
