  4. Planting F/X Revit Error Occurred: Could Not Find the LAFX Tag Id on Element with Name LFX-TYPE

The File ... Was Saved in a Later Version of Revit (Placing a Plant, Tag, or Other Item into a Revit Model)

Issue:

You tried to place a Planting F/X tag, plant, or other element into a Revit model and saw the an error message similar to the following:

The file LAFX_.......rfa was saved in a later version of Revit and cannot be retrieved in this version.

The file LAFX_.......rfa was saved in a later version of Revit and cannot be retrieved in this version error message

Cause

The RFA (.rfa) file in your library is saved to a version of Revit newer than the version you're currently using. The issue can stem from from either:

  • Using the same library folder for every version of Revit (and having downloaded the content from a later year first), or
  • Opening and manually saving the file in a newer version of Revit

Revit files, including family RFA files, are not backward compatible. Forward compatibility triggers an intrusive upgrading message, which is why we've organized our content library by year.

Solution

Verify that your library folders are set up correctly by following our steps to Set Up Your Planting F/X Library Folder for Revit.

Check the file itself to find out whether somebody in your office has overwritten it. You can prompt Planting F/X to re-download the file from landfx.com by deleting it from the library and using the Planting F/X tool that uses that same file again.
