Install SketchUp: Computer Lab

Issue

You are installing SketchUp on multiple machines in a university or school computer lab, and you want students to be able to access the Land F/X SketchUp plugin automatically whenever they log in.

Solution

1. The Planting F/X Plugin for SketchUp file (lfx_LandFX.rb) and the lfx_LandFX folder need to be distributed to:

C:/Users/{username}/AppData/Roaming/SketchUp/SketchUp 20XX/SketchUp/Plugins (where 20XX is the year version of SketchUp you are installing

2. The Planting F/X Plugin for SketchUp needs a writable folder where it can store content. This folder path can be as simple as Documents/Sketchup/LandFX.

3. Finally, the preferences for the plugin are stored in the Registry, under HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Sketchup/Sketchup 20XX/LandFX (where 20XX is the year version of SketchUp you are installing).

Change these preferences to the following:

Library: Change this path to the folder path you created in Step 2 above.
SupportID: Your Land F/X Support ID (Our contact at your school will have received your Support ID in an email from Land F/X.)

If you can distribute these settings to each student user account, the Planting F/X Plugin for SketchUp will be installed.
