_qsave Unable to Save to Drawing ... As It is Being Accessed by Another Session (Saving a Drawing File)

Issue

When attempting to save a drawing, you saw an error similar to the following in the Command line:

_qsave Unable to save to drawing *file path* as it is being accessed by another session.

Drawing saved to *file path* ending in a .tmp file extension

Cause

Permissions for a folder were set upon the creation of that folder. In the case of details, when a user creates a detail category, that user is the owner of that directory. In more restricted Active Directory environments, users who do not create the detail or category will be unable to edit or save those details as a result.

Solution

A domain administrator in your office will need to add a group containing all Land F/X users at the root LandFX folder with Modify permissions that are inheritable from the LandFX folder down. Creation of this group should ensure any future directories that are created will have the necessary permissions set for all Land F/X users to modify.

In some severely locked-down cases, the Modify permissions may not work. In these cases, the group may need to have Full Control instead of Modify permissions.
