QSAVE Error: One or More Objects Cannot Be Saved to the Specified Format (Saving a Drawing File)

Issue

When attempting to save a drawing, you saw an error similar to the following:

QSAVE Error: "One or more objects cannot be saved to the specified format.

This error will likely be occurring only in one specific base sheet file, rather than in brand-new drawings.

Cause

The error is most likely resulting from a known CAD issue with versions 2025 and up, where if the External Reference Manager (Xref Manager) is not open or docked when a drawing loads, Xrefs may show as unreferenced or unloaded, which in turn causes the error and issue with saving the drawing file.

Solution

To prevent this error, keep the Xref manager docked or open at all times, and open F/X CAD first before loading any drawing file.

We also recommend setting the Startup System Variable value to 3. (Type STARTUP in the Command line and press Enter, then type 3 and press Enter again when prompted wo enter a value.) This setting will ensure that toolbars and settings load before the drawing opens.
