Prevent Details from Updating Automatically

Issue

You've placed a number of details in a drawing, and you want to prevent them from updating automatically when that file is opened.

Our Update Details tool fires automatically whenever a drawing file is opened. As a result, all details in the drawing will update to their latest version – generally a handy feature. However, in some cases – such as when a project goes to bid – you won't want the details to update automatically.

Solution

To prevent the details in a drawing from updating automatically, you can mark that drawing file as Read-only. The details in the drawing will remain unchanged when the file is opened.
