True Color Hatch Selection Showing Blank Squares When Switching Tabs, or Not Showing At All

Issue

When attempting to select a True Color hatch color, you noticed that the selection boxes are either:

• Blank, or
• Going blank after you switch tabs

Cause

This issue is the result of an extra path or a bad path in your CAD File Paths under Color Book Locations.

Solution

Open the Options dialog box in CAD:

right-click in the Command line and select Options from the menu

 

Tools pull-down menu

In the Options dialog box, select the Files tab.

 

Expand the Color Books Locations path. You should see exactly two paths here:

• C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2025\support\color
• C:\Users\*UserName*\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2025\R25.0\enu\support\color

The first path is for the built-in Autodesk Color Books. The second path is where the Land F/X Color Books are stored. The software assumes that the last path in this list (i.e., this second path) will have Read/Write access on your computer. If you have a custom path for your company's Color Books, you may see it listed here.

To address the issue, navigate to this second path in Windows File Explorer and ensure that the folder referenced in the path has Read/Write access.

If you only see one path listed here, you'll need to add the correct path by clicking Add and navigating to the correct location.
