Reinstall F/X CAD or AutoCAD

In some rare cases, F/X CAD or AutoCAD may function incorrectly, requiring you to reinstall your installation.

Important: Do you have version of F/X CAD that's older than the two most recent year versions? These older versions of F/X CAD are considered "Legacy" and require a $50 fee for each re-installation. For more information see our Land F/X Scope of Support page.

We've never seen the Repair function in the AutoCAD Uninstall options actually fix anything. Meanwhile, the Reinstall option doesn't wipe out all your settings and can fix a number of issues. The Uninstall option is quite drastic and will remove personal settings. We highly recommend trying the Reinstall option before uninstalling and reinstalling.

 

Step 1: Uninstall and Repair Your Installation

 

 

1. Open your Control Panel, and select Programs and Features.

2. Select your AutoCAD or F/X CAD installation, and click Uninstall/Change.

 

 

 

3. Click Repair or Reinstall.

4. Select the Reinstall option.

 

Then click the Reinstall button in the bottom right corner of the Repair or Reinstall dialog box.

 

Restart your computer and open CAD. If it functions correctly, you've repaired the issue.

 

Still having the same issue that required you to repair AutoCAD or F/X CAD? Move on to Step 5.

 

 

 

5. If you repaired your installation but you're still having the issue that required the repair, restart your computer.

 

Open CAD. If it functions correctly, you've repaired the issue. If not, move on to Step 6.

 

 

 

6. If restarting your computer didn't fix the issue, follow our steps to uninstall and reinstall AutoCAD or F/X CAD.

 

 

 

 

1. Open your Control Panel, and select Uninstall a Program.

 

 

 

2. In the list of programs that opens, double-click your year version of CAD.

 

 

Note that your AutoCAD installation may have a different name, depending on the version of F/X CAD or AutoCAD you're running.

 

 

 

3. Select Repair or Reinstall .

4. In the next screen, select the Reinstall option

 

 

 

Then click the Reinstall button.

 

 

 

You might see a warning to close Internet Explorer or other programs. If so, click Ignore.

 

 

 

5. Follow the prompts to reinstall F/X CAD.

If you receive a Program Maintenance message asking whether you want to Modify, Repair, or Remove the program, select Modify and click Next.

 

 

 

6. If F/X CAD or AutoCAD reinstalled correctly, you'll see the following screen.

 

 

If so, click Finish.

 

 

 

7. Open CAD, and check whether you can see your Land F/X tools or menus. If you see them, and if you do not see the error message pictured below, you've repaired your installation successfully.

Unavailable Network Resource?

You might see an error message warning that The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.

 

 

 

If so, move on to Step 2: Browse to the MSI File(s).

 

 

 

 

 

Step 2 (if necessary): Browse to the MSI file(s)

You'll only need to complete this step if you received a message that The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.

 

 

 

1. Download the installer for your year version of F/X CAD.

 

Right-click the download link for your version of F/X CAD below, and select "Save Target As" or "Save Link As" from the menu that opens. Then save the file to your desktop.

FExtracting the downloaded file

 

 

 

 

This step will create a folder on your desktop with the same name as the file you extracted (example: fxcad2015.64.2).

2. Open the F/X CAD installer file you just downloaded.

 

 

 

A window will open and ask you to extract the downloaded file to a specific location.

 

 

 

Click Browse, then select your desktop. Then click Extract.

We recommend saving the F/X CAD installer folder, should you need it in the future. Our recommended location is Documents/_Setup_/Software/fxcad2015.64.2.

 

 

 

3. Back in the error dialog box that warned that The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable:

 

 

 

Click Browse.

 

 

 

4. You'll now navigate to the file acad.msi, which the dialog box is asking for.

 

 

 

Browse to the F/X CAD installer folder on your desktop, then navigate to the following file path: x64/acad/acad.msi.

 

 

 

The file might just be named acad, depending on your settings.

You might see the error dialog box again with an additional prompt to navigate to the file acadLP.msi.

 

 

If so, you'll also need to browse to that file.

5. To browse to the file acadLP.msi, click Browse in the error dialog box.

6. Browse to the F/X CAD installer folder on your desktop, then navigate to the following file path: x64/en-us/acad/acadLP.msi

 

 

 

The file might just be named acadLP, depending on your settings.

Do not double-click this file – just click it once to select it.

 

 

 

7. Click OK in the dialog box asking for the file.

 

8. Open CAD. Your installation should now be repaired. Still having the issue that required the repair? Move on to Step 9.

9. If you're still having the same issue that required the repair, restart your computer.

 

 

 

10. Open CAD. Still having the same problem? Follow our steps to uninstall and reinstall AutoCAD or F/X CAD.
