Land F/X recently completed an online guest lecture presentation with Fanshawe College, in preparation for their 8 week, study abroad tour. Jacqueline Viscardi, a third year student said, "I was able to attend the presentation, and I thought it was great. It's always daunting to learn something new, but I found it quite easy to pick up."
The students were treated to a follow up training session over the weekend with Cory Blaquiere of Hilton Landmarks in Waterloo, Ontario giving them more hands-on help with learning the essentials to Land F/X. "I sat down with the students for the day and walked them through each step of installing Land F/X in AutoCAD and SketchUp, starting a project, developing a planting plan and walking them through the SketchUp Connection," says Blaquiere. Students apply what they learned with Land F/X to design two different projects in their study abroad program in Italy, and back home in Canada.
Eli Paddle, professor and program coordinator at Fanshawe College, was excited about the guest lecture and training on Land F/X. The class is, "an intensive course offered over three days to our third year students who are preparing for our Italy semester abroad in October," says Paddle. They will spend 8 weeks traveling from Verbania, in the northern lakes region of Italy, to Bologna, Florence, Rome, and then to Barcelona, Spain.
Land F/X will be used for site inventory and analysis, conceptual design, planting design, export to SketchUp and the final masterplan documentation for each project. The Land F/X SketchUp Plugin will also be utlized to produce a model that will be rendered in Twilight Render for the final images. The final product of each project will be shown in a gallery show at the college in January.
