As details are placed as blocks in detail sheets, any block inside of the originating .dwg gets added to the block list in the sheet file itself.
When I go to the originating detail .dwg and edit the block, it does not update when I run 'update details' in the sheets, due to the definition living in the sheet now.
As well if I have that block live in multiple details placed in the same sheet, if I edit it in one spot (in the sheet file itself) it updates across all details, even if I just want to change it in that single detail.
I've noticed is that if the block is dynamic with visibility states, I can change the the state in the originating .dwg and have it update accordingly in the sheet and have the other visibility states hold if the same block is placed in other details.
All of this to say, utilizing blocks inside of placed details (blocks) can seemingly create a lot of unintended consequences - do you have guidelines / recommendations on how to best use blocks when drawing details and placing on a sheet?
Thanks!
