We are a software company looking for a bright and driven content developer located in San Luis Obispo County, California.
Our software is an add-on program for AutoCAD and SketchUp. We offer clients access to a library of 2D blocks and 3D components to use in landscape and irrigation design. We also work with manufacturers in the industry to add their landscape products to our block and component library. Examples include benches, irrigation and lighting equipment, play structures, athletic equipment, and more. We started as a father-son duo working out of a garage and now have the best-in-class software used by thousands of professionals in dozens of countries, served by an ever-growing staff of more than 20 employees.
This job entails padding out our vast library of “smart” AutoCAD blocks and SketchUp components. Much will be self-directed in areas that noticeably include few or no blocks (dog play area, bocci court, etc.). At other times, the content creation will be at the behest of a manufacturer, as part of a meticulous effort to represent their entire product catalog, every model and every model option – all at a click away from the designer.
In addition to drafting content, the candidate will add product information directly from manufacturers’ catalogs to our software, verifying accuracy and correct organization.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in either AutoCAD or SketchUp. Proficiency in both is an asset.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and organized in order to meet deadlines.
- Candidate will be located in, or willing to relocate to, the San Luis Obispo, CA, area. Our team is currently working remotely, but working daily at our office in San Luis Obispo will likely be a future requirement.
Responsibilities:
- Rework existing AutoCAD blocks or details, and/or 3D SketchUp components, to match our standards, including layer structure, lineweights, and best CAD and SketchUp practices.
- Using non-CAD details as a guide, create standardized CAD details, plan blocks, and/or SketchUp 3D components.
- Compile data from manufacturer catalogs, including equipment models, product descriptions, and performance data, and add it to our AutoCAD-based software.
- Maintain an understanding of the content and organizational structure of a variety of catalogs, and classify this information into a logical and consistently organized software database.
- Cross-check the entered data in AutoCAD to ensure it is accurate, current, and organized correctly.
