Our projects include a lot of hardscape. When doing the initial design, we will put in plants as placeholders and to get a rough budget for landscape. I have been doing this through the plant manager and then using match properties in the finished project. I would like to use generic plants and then match properties with the final type. It would be easier if I had the generic plants edited and named as certain sizes and different symbols.

I have two questions:

1. Can I edit the generic plants to automatically scale to a size? Say a 3ft wide plant or a 2ft wide plant. Dragging to scale and then entering an x and y number takes too long,

2. Can I match properties from my plant template directly or do I need to insert a plant block into the drawing?

Brian,

You are going to have much more control of the symbols if they are Project Plants, not Generic. In case you want to tweak the symbol size, change the symbol, or of course create a quick schedule.
As such, it's generally an easy enough workflow, to just add a representative plant to the project, and then edit it and rename it, to "Accent Shrub TBD", or whatever works for you.
