I have an existing planting plan that I would like to replace the existing planting blocks with LandFx blocks. I used replace block in AutoCAD but the blocks will not be found in the schedule.

Hi Kyle,

The blocks you're replacing in your dwg do not contain the necessary Land F/X data to appear in the schedule. However you can convert those blocks into Land F/X smart blocks by following the steps on the page below.

Mike,

Thanks for your responses. The blocks that I'm trying to replace with the existing blocks are landFX blocks. I placed one block of each into the drawing from my landfx schedule and then used the block replace in AutoCAD.

Kyle,

In that case you will need to be using the Match Properties function.

Mike,

That did work. Maybe I was not clear I have a non-LandFX plant block that I would like to replace with a LandFX plant block.

Thanks,

Kyle,
The AutoCAD match properties will not work for you. The Land F/X Match Properties tool will allow you to pick a source Land F/X block (placed from the Plant Manager) and pick the destination object to swap out. Please take a look at this little instructional video I put together to illustrate this process, and let us know if you have any further questions. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Jake,

Thanks for your response but I still have the same problem with it not changing existing AutoCAD blocks to LandFX block. It does work on other LandFX blocks so I do understand how to use the command.

Thanks again and Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.
Kyle,

The video that Jake linked shows exactly the process:

Jake and Jer,

That video is great. I've been using the program for so long and I didn't even know that we could do that (I just never had the need). If you add Forrestt's jingle and your voice Jake I'd like to post a link to it on our Stantec LandFX Yammer site. That's a great tool. As you are aware, more of our offices are starting to use LandFX and this cold help them in a transition. They can take existing dumb AutoCAD planting plans and change them into smart LandFX blocks in less than an hour and reap all of the benefits from there on out.

Does this sound doable?

Kyle,
Thank you for sending in your files. That definitely helped us understand what was really going on here.

To make sure we are all on the same page with what was really going on, I will say it has everything to do with your blocks and that they were full of attributes. This should be of comfort to know that now since you are using Land F/X, you will not need this type of set up as you can now properly label you blocks, and list these types of attributes in a more organizes and quick fashion.

What we were able to do to help with the issue at hand (Match Properties not converting the non Land F/X symbols) was to increase the Match Properties functionality by allowing the tool to remove completely the attributes from the destination block. We plan on releasing this feature in the next update tomorrow so please keep an eye out for this. I will also update you via your tech support ticket so you know when this is released.

The other thing I did notice when going through this plan was the fact that you had a dview twist set to the drawing. I have provided a link below that goes over how to use our UCS tool instead of using dview twists as it is more appropriate to use UCS rather than the dview setting. Please let us know how else we can assist you and we can go from there.

Jake,

I have updated to 14.05 but still having the same problem.

This is what I get when I use the command.
Command:
Select destination object(s): _.UNDO Current settings: Auto = On, Control = All, Combine = Yes, Layer = Yes
Enter the number of operations to undo or [Auto/Control/BEgin/End/Mark/Back] <1>: _BEGIN
Command: _.UNDO Current settings: Auto = On, Control = All, Combine = Yes, Layer = Yes
Enter the number of operations to undo or [Auto/Control/BEgin/End/Mark/Back] <1>: _END

Thanks,
Kyle,

Sorry, the next update got delayed due to a need to test the revised installer a bit more.
It will post no later than December 8.

Jeremiah,

The match properties in the new update now replaces my old blocks, however, I have work areas and now all the replaced blocks are on the same layer in each work areas.

Thanks,
Kyle,

You can use Highlight Plant, and then the S option to Select what is highlighted, and quickly move them to the correct layer.
