Cause

Back in 2018, we updated the Copy along Polyline tool to use a temporary offset instead of requiring users to create their own offset and place the block on the line.

Solution

The offset from the polyline is determined by the copied object's perpendicular distance from the line. If the plant, RefNote amenity, irrigation component, or other object is not perpendicular from the line, the offset can be farther than expected because the tool will take the distance from the insertion point of the copied object and the nearest endpoint of the line.

If either the line or the copied object has an elevation and isn't flattened, the offset could be wider than expected as a result because the tool is accounting for the vertical change in the distance from the line.
