Color Render: Cannot Select Texture or Hatch Pattern for Groundcover or Shrub Area

    Updated on: January 02, 2025

    Issue

You're using our Color Render tool to select a color symbol for a groundcover or Shrub Area, and you're not seeing the step to select a texture or hatch pattern.

    Cause

We've removed the step of selecting groundcover and Shrub Area hatches from the Color Render tool. Instead, the color symbol automatically uses the 2D hatch already assigned to the plant itself.

We've fielded a number of user requests to eliminate the extra step of choosing the hatch when selecting a color, so we opted to simplify this process by making it identical to the process of selecting a color symbol for an Area/Volume Reference Note hatch. Want more illustrative hatch patterns for your color plant presentations? See the solution below.

    Solution

If you want a groundcover or Shrub Area's color plant hatch pattern to differ from the 2D hatch already assigned to the plant, you can edit that plant and choose a different hatch pattern for your color presentation, then edit the plant again and select the original 2D hatch pattern for the construction document.

Note that you'll only need to complete these steps if you want to assign separate hatch patterns to your color and 2D black-and-white plant hatches.
