Model Space (4:40)
- Model Space is generally where you’ll do most of the work in your drawing.
- Without scale – meaning your model is drawn at full size.
- Scale doesn’t necessarily matter here until you want to enter text, dimensions, callouts, hatch patterns, etc.
Paper Space (5:30)
- A virtual representation of your printed document.
- Your model is scaled and placed on paper through Viewports.
- Scale is extremely important.
Annotations and scale: How AutoCAD treats annotations (6:25)
- Text is sized in units of drawing.
- Example: 1/4", 1/2", 6mm, 12mm, etc.
- User is in charge of figuring out sizes of texts used and also scaling text sizes for print.
- Annotative scale allows users to set up different text size profiles for different text types.

Note that when you create multiple viewports of the same area and scale them correctly, the text size will be the same across the multiple viewports with different scales, even when the different scales objects such as plants are different sizes from viewport to viewport due to the scale differences.

How Detail Templates work (36:12)
A Detail Template works similarly to a Work Area in that it places a boundary around an area of your drawing (in this case, a detail). However, Detail Templates change size in Model Space, depending on the scale.
