Would it be possible to add the ability to have 4 letter "non-referenced" notes in ref notes, meaning that they are not in a category and can be one to four letters (and/or numbers) long.

My thought is for preliminary or even base work it would be nice to put together a set of abbreviations such as ASPH, LAWN, TURF, PA, CONC, WALL, DG, COB, etc. that we could place in the non-leader block and have the choice of wipeout or not and place them on the base, we could also do them as areas or lights and have then in a legend (preferably separate or have the option to be separate from ref notes).

I love the abilities of the ref note system but for preliminary and even some simple construction it would be nice to have a alphanumeric option.

Bob,

The notes should always have a number, this makes it easier to maintain a master list of all such notes, and to more quickly pull just the note desired into another project.
What we plan on adding, is the ability to replace the callout with either the first line or the entire text of the note.

along with first line or entire text would there be a way to have a substitute abbreviation perhaps? or could there be a secondary notes and abbreviations style ref notes that is more basic and preliminary. i often find that contractors are fine with SF-01, SF-02, etc but city councils and review committees or the general public is more intune to a simple abbreviation and legend. Maybe like how we have concept plants and planting, it could be inserted as a simple note (with note, length, or area and a simple description) that can later be converted to a more complete ref note.

just a thought, thanks for all the hard work.

Bob
Sorry, to clarify:
The code number like SF-02 would only be visible in the Manager and when importing from another project. So if the first line of the note was "ASPH", that is what would appear in the callout. In the schedule would be "ASPH", along with the remainder of the note.
By still retaining the code number, you could consolidate all of your Asphault notes, which could all start with ASPH.

that sounds like it might just be the thing!
Thanks Jeremiah!
