I have tree blocks that have color blocks assigned to them but want to remove the color so that they only plot the outline and the shrubs, i cannot "deselect" the color only select a new color swatch... is there a way to remove the color block associated with individual plants that have already been assigned?

thanks.

Bob,
Currently there is not a button that will simply let you "release" a color that has already been assigned to a block. We have noted this and it is on the wishlist to add this type of feature. However, you do have a few different options to get the result you are looking for.

1-From the Colorization Dialog, pick on our our white symbols so that you get a white fill instead of a color fill.
2-Before turning on the color (or turn off the color before performing these steps)- Freeze the plant layers that you do not want colored, run the colorization tool, and turn the frozen layers back on.

For option 2, you could get as specific as you want, for what plants get turned off. Meaning, you could use the highlight plant tool, click a specific tree/shrub, press "S" to select those blocks, put that selection on a unique layer, and freeze that layer. It doesn't have to be the entire tree/shrub layer.

Please let us know if you have further questions and we can help guide you in the right direction.

Would like to see this "release" option added - I might have voted the wrong way on Jake's post :D
Michael,

We have some changes coming to the Edit Plant dialog, essentially duplicating the look and feel from the recent changes to the RefNote dialog box. When we implement this, we will add either a Right Click menu or a little X button to remove a symbol assignment. Should be done within a month.

Looking forward to this update. It would be particularly helpful for generating schedules where the plants are displayed in a mixture of color rendered and line work symbols. I use Jake Lott's method #2 often for creating mixed planting plans, but then the schedules don't match the plan because they can only be generated entirely in color or in line.
