Mimic Plants and Site Amenities: Planting F/X for SketchUp Plugin
After placing Land F/X objects, such as plants and site amenities, in your model as SketchUp components, you may want to replace a placed instance of an object with another object. With the Mimic tool in our Planting F/X for SketchUp plugin, you can do so quickly.
Mimic Tool Overview
You can mimic Land F/X objects in two ways:
Plants and site amenities, including those that you haven't placed in your model yet, can be mimicked from the Plant Manager or Site Amenities Manager, respectively.
Select the object you'd like to mimic in the manager of your choice (Plant Manager pictured), then click Mimic.

If you've already placed the object in your model, you can alternatively use the Mimic tool directly:

LandFX toolbar, Mimic button

Land-FX menu, Mimic option
If you activate the Mimic tool without a Land F/X object selected, your cursor will change into an eyedropper icon, and the status bar text will read, Select a Land F/X object to mimic.
Click on a placed instance of a Land F/X plant or site amenity to begin mimicking it.

The placed instance of the source object will be highlighted with a yellow bounding box.
Your cursor will change into a paintbrush icon, and the status bar text will read, Select a destination object.
Begin selecting destination objects to mimic the source object. When you hover your cursor over a valid destination object, the object will be highlighted in yellow, and an orange circle will appear underneath the paintbrush mouse cursor icon.
Click on objects one by one to mimic the source object.

Each object you click on will be replaced with a copy of the source object.
When you're finished mimicking the source object, press Enter or the spacebar to deactivate the Mimic tool.
Alternatively, to select a different source object to mimic, press the Escape key. The Mimic tool will stay active but will switch back to source object selection mode.
The placed instance of the original source object will no longer be highlighted by a yellow bounding box, and your mouse cursor will change back into the eyedropper icon.
