Floor or Toposolid Groundcover Plant Won't Color Render in Our Planting F/X for Revit® Plugin

Issue

You ran our Color Render tool in a view using our Planting F/X for Revit plugin, and your placed groundcover won't apply a color.

Cause

This issue can occur for two known possible reasons:

  • The groundcover plant does not have a color assigned in the Plant Manager, or
  • The groundcover was placed prior to Update 1.1.3, which upgraded how we create floor and toposolid types to move the material for the hatch and color to the finish material instead of to the earth core material of the type structure. Groundcovers placed prior to this update will no longer react to Color Render because they lack the finish level.

Solution

1. Edit the plant and confirm that it has a color assigned.

You can also just click the plant in the Plant Manager while viewing the previews and, if a color is assigned, that color will show up in the color preview box.

2. If the floor or toposolid type is lacking the correct finish material in the structure, edit the plant and simply click OK without changing anything.

This action will replace all placed instances of this species with the updated floor or toposolid type with the correct finish structure, allowing the plant to work with Color Render again.

Repeat this step for all species with this issue.
