Land F/X community:

I'm a new user and currently trying to learn the program via the 30-day challenge. I'm on "Day 3" but it keeps telling me I am not completing the challenge and to make sure I'm following all instructions. So far all I see it a video and then the "Learn More" link which brings me to a page to read more about the functions. When I hit "Completed. Verify It", it tells me it's incomplete but does not show me where I have missed anything, especially given it's just a video and a webpage to review. Same with challenge "Day 4". Any ideas what I might be missing?

Thank you!

PS: One quick other question: Is there a plant block for "existing trees"? So I can label them on a plan but simply have auto notation in the plant schedule that they're existing and to remain? Thanks!

Hi Tucker,

For the third challenge, the instruction that you might not be following is:

"A Land F/X project is where you'll build your plant palette. Our Scale tool sets up your units and plot scale in seconds. Start a project, then set your scale."

So go ahead and do that in CAD. Once you've created a new project and set your scale, click the button to verify that you've completed it correctly.

If you're not sure how to do that, watch the video or check out the Learn More button which links to instructional documentation on how to do that (https://www.landfx.com/docs/admin/project-management/item/1172-create-a-new-project.html).

The same concept applies to the fourth challenge and so on:

"Now it's time to start specifying the plants you'll use in your project, also known as adding plants. Jump into your project and start building your palette."

Go ahead and add a few plants to your planting palette and then click to verify.

You can add a text leader to notate the tree in the plan itself, or within your planting palette edit your tree and you can change the name or notes to clarify that it is an existing tree. You can then choose to show notes in your schedule and your edited note that it is an existing tree will show up in the schedule.

Here's some more information on editing plants: https://www.landfx.com/docs/planting/planting-tools/editing-error-checking/item/211-edit-plant-information.html

Thank you Kyler... Had no idea actually doing that would be registered, and noted by the program for the challenge. Thank you!

Absolutely! You make a good point, it might need to be more clear on the program that it's being registered through CAD.

Also, Jake Lott on the Land F/X support team let me know that he made a video specifically for solutions to the existing tree situation. If you're still looking for other ways to notate existing trees, here's the video: https://www.landfx.com/videos/powertips/item/2388-tree-remediation.html.

Have a good one
