AutoCAD Crashes, Freezes, or Closes When a Web-Based Land F/X Dialog Box is Opened (Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library MFC140u.dll on M Series Mac Running Windows for ARM)

Issue

AutoCAD crashes, freezes, or closes as soon as you open a Web-based Land F/X dialog box. Examples include:

• Site Color
• License Manager
• Irrigation Manager

Cause

We've seen this crash result from Microsoft Visual C++ runtime libraries – particularly the MFC140u.dll library – on M1 Macs running Windows for ARM.

Solution

To address this issue, try updating to Microsoft C++ runtime 2015-2022 (x64) version 14.30.30704.

There is no guarantee that the very next version, (14.30.30705) won't bring the crashing back. Windows for ARM is a beta operating system and is not yet officially supported by Autodesk or Land F/X. Therefore, no minimum version of the Visual C++ libraries guarantees the software will operate as intended. These sorts of diagnoses and repairs are all trial and error due to not being supported, and are up to the end user or their IT to complete.
