Install Land F/X for AutoCAD: University Lab – Manual Steps

    Updated on: May 17, 2022

This guide provides instructions for college or university IT administrators to set up Land F/X software manually in an AutoCAD workstation lab environment. Once you complete these instructions, you will have a Single-User Land F/X installation on each CAD workstation in your lab.

In most cases, you should be able to install Land F/X in your university lab using our standard university lab installation steps. The manual steps on this page provide an alternative installation method in the event of domain or security restrictions on the workstations.

Step 1 (recommended): Send us a support ticket

Before you proceed with the manual installation steps, we recommend that you send a ticket to our Support team letting us know that you've run into issues installing Land F/X in your university lab. We may be able to provide a more straightforward solution to help get your lab up and running.

    Step 2: Prerequisites

Once you've verified that you need to complete the manual installation steps, ensure that you have the following items:

Your lab-specific Land F/X Support ID*

    * This will not be the same Support ID your students use for their home computers/laptops. You should have received this Support ID in an email from Land F/X. Don't see it? Email us at admin@landfx.com to receive it.

    Step 3: Install Land F/X

Use the link below to install Single User Land F/X on a dev machine where you have full admin rights.

    F/X Server Installer

This is a "Single-User" installation. It will install both the FX Server and FX Workstation components on one machine.

For more information, see our detailed installation instructions.

Already have Land F/X installed in your lab? New academic year? Here's what to do.

Step 4: Copy the necessary files for configuring the workstations

4A. Insert your USB drive into the computer where you just installed Land F/X.

4B. Copy the following items onto the USB drive:

    • Main LandFX folder
    • C:\ProgramData\LandFX folder (SQLite database directory and contents)
    • Copy both sqlite3.dll and sqlite3odbc.dll from C:\Windows\System32

Step 5: Configure the Land F/X workstations

5A. Insert your USB drive into one of the Land F/X workstations.

5B. Copy the root LandFX folder from the USB drive to your desired location. The standard location is C:\LandFX.

5C. Copy the C:\ProgramData\LandFX folder (SQLite database directory and contents) from the USB drive into C:\ProgramData\.

5D. Copy the files sqlite3.dll and sqlite3odbc.dll from the USB drive into C:\Windows\System32.

5E. Complete our manual installation of Land F/X Workstation steps.

5F. Repeat these steps on each additional Land F/X workstation.
